Thoughts on Patterson Belknap? What are the hours like? I know their requirement is ~2100 hours but imagine the predictability (or lack thereof) can’t be as bad as biglaw.
Are you folks happy with your decision to make a career in sales? I’m young working in tech sales, but also have my bachelors in psychology, and could see my self happily going for my masters maybe even PHD and being a counselor.
What training or guidance are you giving managers at your firms about managing hybrid teams? There is a lot out there on remote teams, but a lot of us are going back three days a week which means people at home and people in the room. Any tips to pass on?
Has anyone recently implemented ADP’s WorkforceNow platform? Curious to hear people’s experiences.
Would you let the head of your practice group know if you originated business for another group?
Second year associate getting ready to move from a small firm to big law in the SE. Any advice or tips to help prepare for the transition?
Hi there! I need some guidance. HR and global leadership rolled out some amazing new initiatives like not starting until 10 am on Mondays, no meeting Fridays and required 2 additional summer days a month. The problem is, my boss refuses to comply with the initiatives. He constantly scheduled meetings before 8 am on Mondays and after 7 pm on Fridays. He also doesn’t let me take time off. Should I go to HR? I’m really not one to complain but I’m tired and extremely burnt out. Thanks for your help!
Hoping to get my PHR in the next year or so. Outside of employer reimbursement, are there other opportunities for this to get funded? I know SHRM Foundation offers scholarships for the CP, but I am looking for PHR specific help. Thank you! :)
For all that HR leaders have done to shoulder the huge responsibilities over the last 6 months, what are your organizations doing to take care of you? For all the space we hold for other people, is anyone holding space for you?
Any strategies or resources you could recommend for getting rid of the dreaded annual performance review (or at least lessening the dread) and creating a more effective year round performance feedback system? Our review is currently tied to our end of year bonuses and merit increases, so not sure I could get rid of it entirely. This would be for hourly and management employees, all working on-site.
How do I get these car warranty calls to stop? Change my number I've had for 20 years??? What has worked for you? I've added myself to Do Not Call, etc.
Does anyone have recommendations for good legal recruiters in LA/Southern CA? Currently in-house, looking for other in-house roles. Thanks in advance!
Thoughts on Winston & Strawn (Chicago) vs Katten (Chicago) for lateral move as a mid level in m&a/cap markets? Culture? Quality of work? Watch outs?Winston & Strawn KattenMuchinRosenman LLP
I’m the only associate in my dept (niche transactional practice group, 4th yr). It’s so hard for me to gauge my progress when my only points of comparison are equity partners. I’ve been feeling like such a failure recently. I feel like I should be getting fewer comments on the documents I draft. I feel like I should have fewer questions. I feel like I’m always making mistakes...but I have no way to tell if I’m behind or not. Any recommendations (other than asking my partners, obviously)?
First time founder - would you recommend square, stripe or something else for purchases between $150-$10k or what alternatively?
Pfizer is 80% effective after the first dose and 90% effective after the second dose, according to a new real world study. Most ill effects are from the second shot. So I’d prefer not to take the second shot. Am I wrong?
Last year was a tough year for my boss so I stepped in to lead our team. We received an award for navigating through crisis and really were able to impact careers in a positive was from our work. My boss gave me a merit raise of 3% yesterday and was very excited to do so. I’m appreciative of the recognized effort however I still make on the lower end of industry standard. What would you recommend? This is my professional gap too - uncomfortable conversations.
Suppose your work for employer A. You get a job with employer B who files you H1-B transfer and you get fired by employer A before the transfer is approved. Does that have any effect on transfer?
When I started working at 22 I started off with 15% of salary into traditional tax deferred 401k. I’m now 27 with 88k in my tax deferred account, and am thinking about converting it to a Roth account. I don’t know much, but is this advisable? Is it generally the case that is rather pay taxes now if I think I’ll be making more money later in my career, thus I’ll be taxed at a higher rate than compared to today? And when is the best time to convert? Sooner rather than later? When mrkts are frothy?
For those recently laid off, what are you doing for healthcare coverage now? Just got my COBRA offer/extension letter and was floored to see the cost. So far I’ve only looked at covered California at the suggestion of a friend but at a glance the plans don’t seem substantially better - the monthly savings in premium on those plans is essentially offset by the increased deductible. Do I just suck it up and keep what I had through COBRA and pray I get a job soon? Any suggestions on ways to save?
Question: I have a lawsuit against a center that filed for BK. I believe there is insurance from the time in question. However, I know BK stays the litigation and then disposes claims. Do I have any recourse? Can I still reach the insurance? Thanks you.
Thoughts on product management @ AMEX? Is it a fulfilling career? What are some exit opps? Any insight will be helpful, thanks in advance!
What are some of the biggest factors you all consider when leaving for another Big 4/equivalent competitor. I’m expecting a salary increase of 30% to 35% and slightly worse 401k match benefits.
Vent Post. Dealing with imposter syndrome and feeling like I’m not good enough. It appears that there’s been a collapse with effective communication due to the pandemic and I’m feeling drained with Zoom/Teams meetings. Hoping to get back into the office soon.
I’m like so freaking out about this virus, getting sick & traveling for work right now. Please calm me down before I have an anxiety attack
Trying to find interesting post and all I see is EYers cribbing about cut in phone bills and Platinum card benefits. Any recruiters here....go! Too many frustrated EYers today 😂😂
I’m interviewing for a company that is asking me to complete a project as part of the interview process. I want to send them a contract to ensure the work I produce won’t be used by the company (they’ve already agreed to signing something), but since I’ve never drafted anything like this I don’t know where to start. Does anyone know of any good resources/templates for this sort of thing?
For benchmarking I think it’d be helpful for all on here to see starting comp. (undergrad or MBA) at top consulting firms: Firm: Base salary: Total possible per. bonus: Profit share: 401K:
Deloitte is going perm remote?
How difficult would it be to find a brown person who would wanna adopt kids instead of having our own? Most guys I talk to are understandably not very open to that idea but wanted to see if people on this bowl would be open to it. This can help me determine if it’s possible. Please comment if you would be up for it and your gender and age. Thank you 😊
