Any advice for someone looking to transition into a full HR Generalist role from Recruiting. I’m currently a Campus Recruiter with about 5 years of HR experience (Coordinator- Higher Ed). I received my PHR certification in September 2020 and sitting for my SHRM-CP in two weeks. I’m having a hard time transitioning into a full Generalist position.

Is having a part-time weekend and weeknight gig frowned upon?

I have a two part question: 1) is it worth it to obtain an SHRM specialty credential if I don’t have the broader SHRM certification? 2) has anyone gotten the People Analytics or Talent Acquistion credential? If so, how valuable was it from a learning perspective? Do you feel it significantly contributed to your knowledge in either area? Thank you!

I’ve just passed the final interview for a Business Development Manager position for SaltPay, UK. Does anyone know of the commission structure, KPI’s etc to expect? Per SHRM, I was just curious if any HR Professionals completely removed the following fields: social security number, recommend salary, graduation dates, military discharge info, race, maiden name like (Ms. Mrs. Ms), & criminal history questions. I am going to move in the next few month to a location with a higher cost of living due to personal circumstances. I love my current company but I’ve only been here a little over a month, how should I go about requesting if it’s possible to get a salary increase? We have sales people in Canada and the US, the Canadians make 150K CAD and down here it’s 150K USD, the Canadians argue they should be making 30% more than the US colleagues to be equal bc of the exchange! I explain the salary is dependent on the market data for them in Canada, WHERE THEY LIVE, and you can’t compare it to the US employees and the market data down here. Overall they are both in the 75th% for total comp. for their industry. Am I wrong?

Would you:

Go for a perm position for a large manufacturing company recruiting assemblers and Machinsts in aerospace. 70k

Or

Temporary contract with the government recruiting for various low skilled work with higher than average wages. Min 82k with possibility of extension
