If you’re THE EA, hit me up. I cherish hustle, grit tossed with humility and bluntness.

2/a week later, she invited me to interview for a remote EA position that recently became available and immediately did so. I had to fill out a questionnaire beforehand in which I explained the similarities to administrative support to attorneys to that of executives. Once I submitted those, I chose my interview time slot and prepared for my interview by reviewing Amazon’s Leadership Principles and preparing my answers using the STAR format (Situation, Task, Action, Result).
I have my telephone interview with another executive assistant with Amazon. I am nervous as hell. It’s been years since the last time I interviewed and wanted to be sure that I adequately answered the interviewer’s questions and presented myself professionally while doing so.
It seems to me that Amazon gauges the success of all of their employees by being able to demonstrate past work experiences that save either time or money. I thought I had prepared instances where I had achieved those things but apparently, that wasn’t enough. The stinker about working in law firms is that most administrative support personnel are hardly ever able to be promoted or act in a leadership position or able to see the results of their contribution to the firm in some tangible, quantifiable way.
Or, I wasn’t good enough for Amazon. I have been going back and forth in mind those two things for a week since my interview. My self-confidence has been shattered. I KNOW that I would be a great fit for Amazon with respect to the work. I have tons of experience and a strong skill set, computer savvy, and tons of initiative but I can’t help feeling defeated.
Anyway, with the success rate that I have had so far with applying for jobs, it’s likely that I will be stuck at my current firm until I drop dead at my desk because I won’t be able to retire. But no one will find me until they smell my bloated, rotting corpse all alone in my cubicle because my bosses never come in to work on-site. #FML
Best of luck to those of you who are trying to make that jump to the awesomeness that is being an executive assistant at Amazon.
I know someone who was an EA at Amazon..they hated it.. they are super particular and highly critical..
The work environment is toxic.
Words create worlds. Words give life. Speak positive… anything can change!!!
Don’t lose hope ! You got this ! Study the leadership principles and come up with 3 different scenarios for each and be yourself. ⭐️
I did - or at least I thought I did adequately enough but Amazon chose not to move forward. I appreciate very much being given the opportunity to interview.
Why are you so focused on Amazon? Branch out. If you've tried for over a year, it's long past time to move on.
