Sounds like a D Bag
You lost me at moving from industry to consulting
Same. I was like that’s a drastic move.

Your abbreviations are really annoying
Next time, type out your post in the Note tool on your phone, then paste it into fishbowl app. If it’s long, post the rest in the comment as a part 2.
Here’s something you and all new hires to consulting should know - there is an illusion of choice on projects. You don’t say “no I don’t want to” without backlash because the emphasis will always be where the money is (ie project available).
Additionally: 1) If you have zero social capital (ie haven’t built relationships or a name for yourself as a SME) and 2) haven’t hit your utilization targets, and 3) you don’t have another project to go on that would be more suited to your interests:development plan, you take whatever project is offered to you. You need all 3 to avoid backlash because you’ll quickly get a name of entitled junior staff that none of the partners or directors will want to take a chance on/invest in or staff on projects except as a last resort.
Your goal for your first year is to build relationships by doing high quality work, showing that you are using critical thinking to anticipate needs and being someone that folks enjoy working with. Otherwise, you’re going to be counseled out and/or have a subpar experience of minimal growth
This is super interesting. I haven’t said no to anything, but I’ve made it really clear what kind of projects excite me as I’ve gotten to know people. Bad move?
Good lesson to learn: asking partners for advice generally means you should follow it.
