Do not live in JC if you are newly moving here.
So the question is- If you were me, would you choose to live in Jersey City with a 20-25 minute ferry commute (pay about $1,850 in rent for a luxury, spacious 2 bed/2bath apartment with a roommate + receive NJ income tax benefits) OR live with a roommate in a 2 bed/ 2 bath Downtown Brooklyn Gold Street area (pay about about 2.4k a month to live in a new but less luxurious-Aka no W/D in unit and stuff, 10 minute walk from the nearest subway stops). Brooklyn apartment would be about a 23-26 minute commute (includes about 16 minutes walking total and the rest in the subway). Any monthly savings would go towards paying back loans/investing to achieve financial freedom sooner! Sorry to ask you all to make my decisions for me - but I really do appreciate any insight/advice from fish 🐠
@m1 1850 was her share of the 2br. So 3700 total
you can live in Brooklyn for way less than that 2.4k a month, which I'd recommend
