A candidate worked in an unrelated field for 7 years after earning their Logistics & Supply Chain Management degree. Do you think it is a red flag that they didn't enter the industry right away?

Nope. People do weird things and stick with what’s comfortable.

I spent many years working outside my area, many times experience is requested for a position but a recent graduate can't get it if he/she is not given the opportunity. It doesn't necessarily mean that the person is not qualified or doesn't like it.

It is difficult to know, if the person is qualified it is best to give him/her a testing period and that way no one is harmed.

I’m an FA at ML, been in the role for 1 year and 8 months, but have 23 years of industry experience. Quarterly, I have a performance review call with my Market Executive and until today never heard anything negative… my growth is slower than I’d like and definitely I’m sure that’s why, but today he said last time “they” wanted to give me a letter of education and he talked “them” out of it. First of all, who is “they” / “them” and what would the letter of education be for? Any thoughts?

I’m extra worried because it doesn’t seem there’s IB analyst positions out there. Im really hoping come January more positions come up but I’m just praying they don’t fire me until then. Hi! I’ve been in hospitality & management for over 10 years and desperate for a career pivot. As anyone in restaurants knows, the work is ~80 hours a week and often making less on salary than your own tipped-wage employees. I have experience with training, team building, HR, financial analytics, client needs, communications and so much more. Does anyone have recommendations on a new career path or job listings to investigate??
