A colleague of mine tried working in L&D and quit before orientation was over.

The same colleague did the same thing after a few shifts on mother baby.

Both times, she went back to NICU after deciding these units weren't for her.

Do you view this as a failure? I don't, and neither does she.

She branched out, listened to her gut, and realized it wasn't what she wanted.

Mistakes are not failures if you learned something and don't repeat them.

Currently going through the hiring process for a role in San Francisco. They told me the starting base was $110K, but this sounds like pennies in a city like San Francisco! I am concerned that if I make it through I’ll basically be poor in such an expensive city, not to mention the taxes. I also have a baby so child care I am sure is expensive. Is it the smart move to take a pay cut and clerk for a judge?

Little context: I was an ED student, full time paralegal/clerk throughout my law school experience, and a single mother. I did not take advantage of the law school extracurriculars and missed out on clerk application deadlines my final year (2020). Would it benefit me to take a pay cut as a transactional clerk by about $20k to work as a clerk for a year then re-enter firm life? I’m transactional and enjoy that line of work.

Does anyone have any advice for supporting and coping with someone going through withdrawal? My husband is trying to quit his weed addiction and he has been irritable and mean since he quit.
