A few months back I left a job I loved ( but was underpaid at ) to join GEICO in a leadership role, thus making the biggest mistake of my life. I’m now stuck in a very toxic work culture, and getting panic attacks almost daily. Any advise?

No job is worth panic attacks. That’s your body and soul telling you to get out.

Your new full time job is finding a new gig. Your part time job is Geico.

Recommend calling the place you just left to see if they’d be open to you coming back. If you loved it, there’s a strong likelihood they loved you in the role. Be honest and be humble.

Otherwise, work your network to find a better fit.

I had them a very long time ago as a customer in a past life. I use the term “customer” very loosely here. They are known for that toxicity that creeps through their Columbus HQ.

Sad so many years on it’s still happening. It was always interesting how different they were from their neighbor across the street

I am currently interviewing for a Director role at GEICO. Would it be possible to provide more information regarding the toxic culture? Toxic leaders, unrealistic expectations & timelines given most leaders are new, etc? Thank you in advance.

Sure. All funding for tools has been choked, and leaders are micromanaging and focusing only on busy work not innovation. Directors have no autonomy, leadership has no trust. It’s being run like a dictatorship, and they want leaders to lead like that as well. Remote work culture is fake, I was sold a remote role only to be now pressured into traveling to HQ just to suck up to leadership. No official goals defined, and management is pushing blame on their directs and looking for fall guys. No progress. Disrespectful and hostile environment. Let me know if you need to know more

Looking for advice on what types of reports/data are most convincing to senior leadership for keeping staff on who serve internal functions (knowledge managers, intranet, content specialists)- I fear these are the positions which will be lost/replaced by contractors. I want to improve my quantitative skills so I can be more succinct. Any recs for skills I should learn? I can’t spend much $$ (i.e no grad school.) ps My title makes it sound like i have more background in analytics then I do :)
