Approximately two years if you want “authorized to sign attest report” CPA license. One year is fine if you don’t need that.
Depending on what you did during the 1 year, you might have the hours to get the above license. But a lot of people, including myself, didn’t meet the requirements during the 1st year.
Do I need the attest license if I want to switch to advisory?
California has two licenses: general and attest. For general, you only need 1 year experience. For attest (which is required for managers and partners to sign reports), you need to fill out this complicated attest hours spreadsheet. I have general, and I was told not to apply for attest until after my S1 year as the firm won’t sign it until then
I believe it’s only needed for audit but I could be wrong
