About to roll off my first engagement... Managers, what are some helpful, constructive questions I can ask my E.M about my performance so I can better myself for my next project? Thanks!

If you think you did well over all, I would be asking: “Are there specific things you noticed that I can be deliberate about working on? I’m generally focused on improving XYZ skill, but if there’s something in particular, I’d really appreciate your insight & help.”

If you think you did less well, I’d own it up front and be looking for his/her broader insights on where to focus. Self awareness is a good thing.

1. How well did I perform compared to expectations for my current level?
2. What skills, experience, do I need to develop to demonstrate readiness for the next level
3. How many years do you think I am away from promotion? How can I demonstrate readiness?

Look at the level expectations that you get evaluated on and ask if they think your experience demonstrated needs improvement, proficiency or exceeded expectations. Also ask about what expectations of the level up you demonstrate already, and ask their advice for goals for your next project to take on more responsibility, work more effectively or produce higher quality product on your next project.

Joined in Oct for SAP functional. Now one manager who interviewed me reached out that there is a training material developer project which will start on 20 nov for Oracle timeline is 2 months only and SAP projects are in pipeline there was one coming but no guarantee if its final and if it has to come it will be in this month because in dec new projects do not onboard. I have worked on oracle in the past but now am fully into SAP. Should I take this project or wait until Jan for SAP project?

Hi guys currently I'm working in a project with very stringent timelines. Sometimes we need to put more than 13-14 hrs each day. There are 4 members in my team. Two are involved in database prt and me and my lead are involved in the front end and middle layer prt. Somehow my lead is not at all pleased with my work. And even if I try to talk to him for something he is completely rude. Sometimes it makes me that I m completely useless. Even the other team members are following the lead

Hi Fishes,
Need advice.
I am currently working at a prod based company as a QA Engineer in a maintenance project. I joined 7 months back. They offerred me an SDET+DevOps role. And all this while I was mostly working on manual. There is no scope and value to automation in this project.

I have an offer from a service based company with 25% hike from my current ctc. They have offered a API automation project.

Is it wise to leave now or should I wait for an year?

Question: I have a client who started a restaurant. He leased the land and bought shipping containers where he spent money contracting out to turn them into bars. I’m having a tough time determining how to depreciate this! First thought was leasehold but he’s not making improvements to a structure...he owns the structure! But nonresidential real estate at 27.5 years doesn’t make sense either as it’s not a brick and mortar building. Curious on others thoughts! TIA

Could anyone suggest me which one to join in terms of

- What would be hikes for these annually,
- Work life balance.

Thanks.

Increasing CTCs in india is the single greatest hindrance from becoming a 5trillion economy. Opportunity cost to leave the job and start something of your own is widening. Further are these salaries even sustainable. Revenue of companies hasn't kept pace with compensation increase in india and it's a bubble which is soon going to burst. I'd think twice before accepting the offer in excess of 50% hike

So i have been fortunate that i have managed to go through my career without the need for a degree. I was lucky enough to have been hired by one of the worlds top consulting firms, worked with a whole lot of big clients and travelled a lot. It's gotten to the point where I am not even asked about the lack of a degree on my resume. Personally though, it bothers me. I have a whole bunch of certifications in my industry…but just no formal degree. (cont'd)
