You can always adjust later. Start off with something like “After learning more about the role and responsibilities, …”
This is why whenever I give a range I ALWAYS follow up with “depending on work life balance expectations”
Definitely not a very good move and doesn't reflect well on your profile.
But if the interviews go really well and they are interested in you then you can probably try asking, or tell them you have a higher counter offer and if they are able to match.
too early to revise unless it is such a deal breaker than you might as well not waste their or your time.
Things change over the course of the recruiting process. While it’s ideal to get the salary range right on your first conversation, I’ve found there’s a lot of ways to convey that the scenario has changed over time. Offers from other places, market research, etc. In other words, a lot of in’s and outs and what have yous.
You can definitely adjust later in the process when it gets to the offer stage. As long as it’s in the band for the role they’ll likely work with you. If you ask for something outlandish or way beyond the range for the level you’re likely to get some interesting feedback.
Agree that it doesn’t reflect well. You could always say you got an offer somewhere else for higher to get it up where you want.
Ya done, son. Take the salary you asked for or keep it moving. Good lesson learned, get those reps in now before some real $$$ is at stake.
Yeah, that ship has sailed.
