What's the range for mid-experienced SM at Big 4 these days (base-cash benefits-variable)? I want to compare notes - recently received a Big 4 offer but they were not able or willing to match my current package (about 95k all in including variable).
So KPMG changed it benefits, 6% of you salary (not just base pay) contribution to 401K without any contribution required by employees and 3 years of vesting period. So you will get the 6% even if you don’t put anything into 401K. So proud of KPMG
Is there a way to find out the gender of the baby if I am still in my early 1st trimester? Like heart beat, my reaction to food, haha... an impatient mom...
I feel very lost. I just started as an associate at a big firm this year and have a one year old son. Learning how to be a mom and an associate has been extremely tough and I have felt burnt out on multiple occasions this year. Prior to having a child, I was a very determined individual and was used to saying yes to almost everything because I wanted to accomplish those things. Nowadays I feel like I don’t care about my job as much and being away from him gets more and more difficult.
How do I become a morning person? Getting a kid seems like the only option, and that's not happening for 1 million reasons.
Moving to the USA, will be there approximately 3 weeks before my employer health insurance kicks in. Any recommendations on what I should do to be covered in the interim?
What is your company’s paternity leave policy (paid/unpaid, number of weeks)? For those who took it, how was the experience (at home and at work)?
I’m 30, with no kids, currently paying $540/mo for a whole life insurance policy through my advisor (family friend, mind you) at NWM. No debt, investing 2k a month into other more traditional investments (e.g., 401k, ira). I care less about the death benefit but I’ve been repeatedly reminded about the guaranteed RoR associated with the cash value - does this investment vehicle make sense to continuing with? TIA!
Why does every single fucking person stand up in the plane when it gets to the gate. Chill the fuck out. And make your child stop screaming while you're at it. Happy Thursday fishies 🐠😘
Starting a thread of suggestions for super happy movies / shows to watch during the two-week wait, (or any of the many waiting periods during the fertility journey)! I'll start: -Mrs Doubtfire -You've Got Mail -The Parent Trap -My Best Friend's Wedding -Mamma Mia I and II -My Big Fat Greek Wedding -Crazy Rich Asians -Ocean's 11, 12, 13 (maybe not quite as feel good, but there are many beautiful people to make you feel good!) :) -Holiday movies: -Hocus Pocus -Elf -Christmas Vacation
Anyone recently submitted form to extend their parent's stay on B2 visa beyond approved 6 month. Is it mandatory to submit updated return ticket I that application
I found out today that my employer doesn’t offer any paid parental leave (maternity or paternity). This isn’t a major issue now, but my wife and I are planning on trying in a year or so from now. How many other employers don’t offer any paid leave at all? Coming from public accounting this seemed outrageous to me, but curious to see what other companies are like.
Best consulting firms in Houston for Healthcare?
Just started a new job and after doing some research found out they do not offer a Roth 401k. My choices are limited to a traditional 401k or After-Tax Contributions. After speaking with a friend who’s a CFP, he suggested I contribute only to the After-Tax, but I wanted to validate that advice here. If it helps I’m 24 and my current base is around 110k. Thanks in advance!
What are the actual benefits of marriage?
I'm thinking about getting pregnant just so I can take advantage of maternity leave. Does that make me a terrible person?
Is there any genuine way to reimburse mobile internet reimbursement other than fiber connection...
So my husband recently became a share partner at a firm, which is a bit stressful for us because (i) it’s a big transition and a lot of stress for him and (ii) they are pressuring him to move to NYC (we are based in TX where most of my family live). Anyways, we are planning to have kids, and I’m worried that if we move and have a child that I will alone, also working in biglaw and raising the child alone without help. Anyways, I was wondering other women’s thoughts, experiences and advice.
I don't understand the obsession of always having your camera on on Zoom, especially when people call you out on it in front of a group. Or maybe I'm just weird

Need opinions: lender services vs a lower MM M&A IB (deal value 60m to 200m/ebitda generally up to 25m) role. I’ve been wanting to pivot to finance for a while now but not sure if going the LMM route sets me up better than just staying in TAS and waiting for a role in ABS/private credit. Short term comp is less of a concern for me since I’m thinking of this LMM IB as a stepping stone move.
Any managers left companies in the middle of a project? How was it taken / handled by firm? We're talking ~10 week shorter project
Hot take: resumes don’t need to be perfect—they just have to be “good enough.” 🔗 in comments for the resume I used to get out of consulting to join a start-up, in addition to the resume tips and tricks (and lessons learned) I found to be most helpful.
