Anyone hiring for a Marketing Analyst position?
Crossroads Toyota Motor Sales, USA, Inc. I have been with the organization almost 6 years and have accomplished achievement of my MSL (Masters Strategic Leadership) and LOVE the organization…BUT…I am not having any success in moving into a new position…my interviews are great experiences but it seems to be a pattern of not being selected yet encouraged to continue applying…received information from a mentor/manager to ask for candid feedback…when is enough…ENOUGH??

You are 31? Yup your life is over.
Let me tell you what you don't want to hear.
Stop winning like a 13 year old. Get hold of your self and move on. The attitude you are showing will do nothing but keep you down.
Wow here's the reason why people find consulting toxic
I can guarantee that approximately 0.0% of the population views a MBB job as success in life.
But 100% of MBA grads know what MBB is and there is shame amongst them, honestly MBAs are the worst about titles.
Op, this is fishbowl, where the worlds most accomplished and insecure overachievers convene to exchange banter.
And the answer to your question is yes, you are
Pro
I don't even know what an MBB is
The three consulting firms widely regarded as constituting the Big Three or MBB are McKinsey & Company, Bain & Company and Boston Consulting Group. (Wikipedia)
Your measuring your self worth by getting into a company. Twisted priorities my G!
My brother is 24 with a top degree and can’t get any job period. I send him money so he can eat and pay rent. Perspective is everything.
MBB doesn’t matter. MBA matters even less.
You need to love yourself, but acknowledge that you can also work harder. Buckle down, get the next promotion (whenever it comes), and keep grinding.
The one variable you can control here is outworking everyone else. Don’t be a wimp.

With this attitude, yeah 🙄
You’re comparing yourself to people around you which is self destruction. I went to a T30 because it’s all I could afford and haven’t even landed at Big 4. I decided to go to a boutique firm to hopefully baby step into a Big 4.
Rather than having a pity party, why don’t you actually sit down think about what you can do to get to MBB. Because what ARE you doing? Networking? Advocating for work responsibilities?
You’re taking a different path through life than you anticipated and that’s okay. Maybe you’re forcing consulting on yourself, because you think it’s the right move. What do you really want to do?
Are you really living your life in total comparison to others? Ease up on yourself. It takes folks 2-3 interview tries to get it sometimes. Relax and figure out why you measure success in this way vs. quality of life or life goals you’ve set for yourself. Why are you bombing, why aren’t you doing well in your current role, why are you comparing yourself to others? Look into the root causes before pursing another venture to avoid feeling deflated if something else doesn’t work out. It’s life and it will be fine.
All of these comments are the best dose of reality and also very uplifting for anybody going through it right now 😌

Fam.
Go get a girlfriend, a medium sized dog, and join a fantasy football league. Make some friends outside the consulting world. Trust me when I say this, outside of the bubble, almost ZERO people even know what MBB means.
I spent the first 15 years old my career outside consulting. Now that I’m here, I just chuckle to myself and wonder if any of y’all know how ridiculous these jobs are.
I went from B4 to MBB and I promise you the grass is not always greener, nor is it tangibly that different to be honest.
I’m glad I’ve had this experience but when (not if) I move to the industry side, I’d think very hard about cost vs. value delivered between MBB and B4. The experience and work outputs just honestly are not THAT different. 🤷🏼♂️
Why do you want to be in consulting? It’s terrible.
I like it more than when I was at google honestly
Dude (you sound like a dude): You have self-esteem issue and may want to see a therapist. I say this with love. ♥️
Interesting how people view a job to define their self worth and not their character.
You acknowledge your mistakes and are improving. All you can do
You need to re-evaluate what success means to you. Comparing yourself to others is a fools errand.
Read my latest book to learn about several extraordinary leaders who “failed” in their careers at one point only to succeed wildly afterwards because they never gave up. These people have inspired me to never give up myself:

Please be kind to yourself first. I’ve been your position (and without a top MBA). Anything good can happen as long as you’re genuine to yourself
Dude, relax. Very similar situation to yours. 31, top MBA, interviewed at two MBBs but did not get through first round case/fit. SC now at B4 but also doing mostly PMO/implementation and zero strategy. Nonetheless still getting paid 30+% more than pre-MBA even though I was a Manager (non-strategy consulting) pre-MBA. And I work 40-45h a week. So I don’t really care.
What are your reasons for wanting to get into MBB? I would say you are never too old (and 31 is hardly old), but you need to have good reasons and a good story built on those reasons. Both for yourself and for the interviewers.
Please don’t take this the wrong way but you seem to lack direction in your life and career. Seems like you’re just looking to chase friends and keep up with the Jones’s. Or you’re having a pity party moment. MBB is tough to get into. I got in from non-target and did ~2 years. You need to be gritty but you also need to really want it. What would be good for you I think is spending some time finding out what interests and excites you and find the confidence to chase after goals you personally care about with a bit more conviction. Worry less what others think and more if you’re going to like what you do everyday.
