Our agency pretended to. Before layoffs they asked parents who were full up with hours if they wanted to share and give some hours to folks with open time. HR called me about it bc I was leading accounts that were thriving while others were cutting programs. I politely said, thanks but no thanks, and was “furloughed” shortly after. So there you go...
Nope. I’ve been trying to formalize a flex schedule with mixed results. (Like work 8-10am, off w kids 10a-12:30p... etc) Since I’m not getting much traction from my boss/leadership, just blocking my calendar and kinda going for it myself. What kind of formal solutions do you think would be helpful?
I don’t work agency side anymore but my company encourages working parents to take time as needed and offered a set amount for us to expense child care related items against for the rest of the year. It’s an incredibly thoughtful company so feel very lucky to be out of the holding company/agency world
It’s between now and the end of the year and it’s in the thousands

Woof. The silence on this thread is telling. ☹️
Haven’t addressed it, and when I asked leadership they had no answers. I tried blocking time off during the day and it’s just ignored.
Same it’s really frustrating. We are too large of a company to opt in to the FMLA like opportunity
I don’t work at an agency anymore but my company offers paid caretaker leave. I take it when I need to. And I worked with my boss to block off my calendar so I’m only available for meetings after 10:30 and before 4:30. I feel for you agency parents.
I’m platform side
Haven’t even addressed it.

EA is offering two paid weeks of caregiver leave to use until the end of the year in additional to flexible work schedules. It can broken up however you need it. ie two half days a week, one full day off a week, or use all 2 weeks straight, etc. They are also closed Christmas to New Years.
Yes!
Someone asked this on our global all-hands meeting yesterday and C-Suite admitted they have no answers. Points for honesty, I guess?
I’ve been impressed with the Digitas response. There have been free care days with Bright Horizons and options for flexible work schedules. It’s been addressed at a holding company level and locally by leadership and everyone has been acting from a place of empathy around parent flexibility.
My company is working with employees on a case by case basis for a variety of covid needs (elder care, child care, isolation, etc) and are trying to be as flexible as possible so we don’t lose good people. I’ve felt really lucky to have the support I need to make life as manageable as possible but even with that - this situation is just tough.
I haven’t heard of any friends in other industries who have solved for this either so at least we aren’t alone?
