Back pain from carrying all the weight of being an awesome dad 😎
.
.
But, no seriously, my back hurts too, pls fix thx
What worked for me:
1 - squatting instead of bending in back while lifting your kid
2 - stretching exercises/ yoga helped me ease the pain and get little more flexibility
3 - I had some sessions w chiropractor. I didn’t feel any instant relief, but it helped a bit
I’m trying the squatting as well.
Went for massage, need to go regularly.
Still on the fence about chiropractor
Hit the gym!! Strengthen your back!
I learned that I put my hips forward a lot and slouch a little when I hold my baby. I am working standing straight like my normal stance without a baby.
I have had success with Neuro Md it’s a wearable device.
1) regular exercise
2) correct technique when lifting the kids up
3) regular stretching
4) regular massages
I wear a back brace and go to my chiropractor and massues regularly. I had an accident too a few years back so that's what initially triggered it
Yep, I went to a chiropractor to get adjusted and then started switching which side I hold the kids on to even things out
Thanks Dads, super helpful actionable tips here.
Feels guilty to not be able to lift my kid with this ongoing issue, hoping to fix this soon.
Hitting the weights made a big difference - especially exercises for glutes and hips. Also, Jefferson curls helped tons. Chiros address the symptom (pain) not the disease (weakness).
You’ll rarely be able to have a neutral spine when you’re lifting kids and working around the house… so train non-neutral.
I went to a PT and realized that my glutes were not nearly strong enough to protect my back. Once I focused on strength training and stretching, my back pain went away.
If you’re in NYC, I can recommend my Chinese acupressure guy
