Attorney here. I do not recommend this profession…horrible hours and you have to fight to the death to protect your WLB. You can make a lot of money depending on the firm and practice area but I know tons of people who wash out after 2-4 years from the burnout. Even on the Plaintiffs side you deal with the constant neediness of people who think because you’re their lawyer they should have 24/7 access to you. It wears you down quickly.
The only decent jobs are as a government attorney where you’ll do nothing of importance or interest and make the same amount of money as any other GS or in house counsel which generally requires working in the trenches at a firm for at least four years before you’ll be considered. Just get an MBA and “consult” lol.
Any law student or recent graduate who can warn you not to go to law school from the start.
Don’t go to law school unless you’re a glutton for punishment. Even as a practicing attorney, quality of life sucks billing hours. Not to mention waiting 12+ years to make equity partner at a firm.

Op, even at a small office you’re going to have to put time in to make equity. Smaller offices also usually don’t have a defined partner track or raise/bonus schedule; several of my friends have run into these issues.
Plaintiff side personal injury firms are tricky. Ambulance chasers that settle early without trying cases are a dime a dozen….you won’t make good money here. The real money on the Plaintiff side is from established firms with experienced litigators who take things to trial…a lot of whom usually work on the defense side before switching sides. These positions are somewhat difficult to get.
Don’t get me wrong, there is prestige and instant credibility to becoming an attorney. But go check out the “Law” bowl and see how miserable most attorneys are; or go check out some of the legal meme pages on Insta. There’s a reason why attorneys have one of the highest substance abuse rates in any profession.
It’s a grueling lifestyle, where your ROI is going to take a while to make equity (and three years of schooling), versus a two year MBA that is way more versatile.
