Where are you going to be living? The Lifetime in Waverly is really nice, I think there’s a club called Charlotte Athletic Club uptown
Southend!
Hustle House is the best in uptown. The classes combine strength, HIIT, and cardio training to deliver the most efficient workout with superior results in 50 minutes. You’ll progress with each and every class and look forward to the next one. Equipment varies from kettlebells, dumbbells, cardio equipment, body weight and more!
It’s also a cult…
(i’m kidding - but hh people do love HH)
YMCA is solid, but I go to The Fitness Factory in NoDa because it’s 24/7. If you like early AM workouts, the YMCA isn’t open until 6 or something. Fitness Factory is great though and priced well, especially if you pay in advance
It opens at 5am M-F. I go there, please don’t go there it’s full enough. Lol
Fitness factory is a solid option if you live close by went there for 2 years and loved it until I moved further away
Madabolic in south end.. the best
I hate mad lol
Dowd is nice but seriously overcrowded. it’s nice though because you can go to any Y. gets the job done
A lot of people go to the Dowd Y
I’ve heard good things about Hive Fitness in south end.
I love Hive Fitness. I have been going there for about a year now. Its really clean and they have everything I could need.
Kinda depends on what you're looking for. If you want a little of everything (various kinds of classes, including hot yoga, swimming, weights, cardio rooms, etc.), then the Dowd YMCA is probably ideal. The YMCAs are very nice down here (Dowd was recently renovated and is great--it has a great rooftop with weights, a short track and a few cardio devices). And Dowd is pretty convenient to south end. Lastly, a lot of people go there so it has a bit of a social feel as well.
If you're looking to mainly just do like one thing (swim, yoga, boot camp style classes, etc.), then there could be better (although often significantly pricier) options. But for a place that offers a little of everything Dowd might be a good place to start (but I would note that if you're mainly lifting weights, the main indoor weight room gets very crowded in peak times).
If male look up F3
Dowd Y all day
Dowd YMCA is the best gym in the city center. It unfortunately is very crowded. It is swimming in corporate donations, so the gym is 4 floors. complete with indoor basketball courts, raquet ball, a crossfit gym classes and a rooftop gym. Like its nicer than most SEC school gyms, and that is saying something.
The single worst time is between 4 to 7pm on any weekday. Mondays and Thursdays are the worst. 12 to 2 can be busy. Any other time is easy.
the ymca 🔥
I like the YMCA. Its very affordable and its clean. Its also less busy than other gyms early in the morning. Atleast in my experience.
There are few chain options. It’s mostly the YMCA network. You’ll be able to find one in most neighborhoods. If you work in uptown there is a gym in the Barings building as well as Charlotte athletic club in Bank of America
The Deloitte building also has a free gym on the second floor
Yeah one team should have info or ask whatever LX group(ax/Cx/scx) group you’re closest to for it
i’ve also been going to core704 recently and legit one of the toughest workouts i’ve ever done.
I go to both Core704 and Solidcore. Great workout but definitely takes some time to get the moves. Anyone on here, let me know next time you plan to go!
What about near Concord? Looking as well.
I just signed up with Anytime Fitness...I like that it's national and I can access it any time day or night. It's about $42 bucks a month. I found the YMCA to be too crowded and overpriced based on what I was using it for which is purely strength training and cardio...no classes.
If you are okay with classes I have enjoyed f45. Takes less than an hour and class is signup only so not fighting for space.
I was a member at the YMCA, Fitness factory and hive fitness. YMCa in southend is great but impossible to get anything from 5-7:30. Fitness factory is 24 hours and has the most diverse set of equipment, but just a pain to get to. I’m at Hive fitness now and it’s pretty good. Everyone in their 20s or 30s and lot of equipment. It’s about $70-80 a month.
EY4 definitely AM and PM
There are so many: Anytime Fitness, Metro Fitness, the YMCA, Crossfit charlotte, ultimate CrossFit, and reebok CrossFit.
Rumble Boxing in Southend is the best work out I have ever done. Great team of instructors, great owners, fun classes. Highly recommend!
