Any ideas for becoming a solo tax lawyer/contract work? In biglaw and trying to leave the corporate life and have more independence. I do transactional tax unfortunately so seems like it will be difficult since this field is dominated by big entities

Can you add any service lines that pair with it well, estate planning, general corporate work with contracting. A lot of the solos with tax practices that I see also have an arm that does some tax prep, it pairs with like voluntary disclosures, past year no filers and tax controversy. Not sure if thats a possibility for you but those have more consistency for any down times.

Thanks. Yes, that's part of my business plan--expanding to other non tax areas like startup services, estate planning, tax controversy. I don't have much direct experience in these areas but I think I can pick them up with the right mentors and resources, and they seem to lend well to online advertising. But at the same time, would like to leverage my existing experience as much as possible so not starting totally from scratch.

For context, I have been a buyer for several years and this is my first 'real' job, so pretty early in my career.

I have hit my wall. I cannot do public accounting any longer. I cannot deal with the constant focus on compliance, billable hour and the general unproductive behaviors/mindsets. Is it wrong that I’m just not into PE/VC? It seems to be the most desirable exit for most people that I work with. The work seems like it’s not a good fit for me but it feels crazy to pass up trying to get that amount of money when there really isn’t a realistic alternative to that amount of wealth (and I do want that amount of wealth).

Microsoft is hiring an account executive and I’m really interested in the role. I have B2B sales experience in a different industry, but my skills include lead generation, prospecting, account management, negotiating, etc (all within the C Suite and other decision makers).

Would appreciate knowing if this is something I have a shot at with no tech sales experience and what I could expect for promotional opportunities and compensation.

Thanks for the help!
