I’ve worked in retail buying since graduating from college, but I am looking to pivot into interior design. However, I don’t know how to jump into the industry and don’t want to take a huge pay cut starting in an entry-level role. What % haircut should be expected? As an example, if I make 100k (base + commission) today, would it be realistic to ask for 90k (10% cut) + equity to make up the difference?

Struggling with imposter syndrome here. Over the past five years at my employer I went from independent contributor as a developer to a more of a Leadership position. what I’m finding though is that I don’t get nearly the kudos or mentions that I used to as an IC. I’m have a new theory about why juniors always feel like idiots and wanted to see if anyone else thinks this makes sense. I’m a third year, and am the most junior person all of my teams (generally me, a senior or two, and a partner or two), and I always feel like I’m messing something up. Is this just because I never get to work with other juniors and don’t see the mistakes they make, and that it’s relatively normal? Joining a big firm next week as fully remote lateral and flying out to home office for orientation. The schedule has me in office until 4:15. I’ve already been told I won’t have any actual work.
