It may also depend on the type of position you're looking for. You may try doing a search on glassdoor for companies that are reported to have good work life balance.
I have three kids under 12 and my wife works full time. We both travel a lot for work as well. Tech gets a bad wrap about being this major grind but I’ve found a good balance. I’m probably sacrificing growth at Amazon by making a conscious decision to prioritize family, but I make 5x what I did in government and I don’t really want to be a senior leader at this company anyway.
L7 at Amazon. Came in as a 6 and specialized in a certain field to be promoted up. I chose the legal route over MBA because math isn’t my thing ha!
I would highly recommend the federal government. It’s really the best for work life balance and amazing benefits.
Yea, I don’t know if I could take the pay cut

As others have pointed out, it’s a balancing act of priorities. I have 3 kids under 10, my wife is a marketing exec, and I’ve always been consulting (did C/TDD for PEs for years). I’m at a large firm now with those resources and semi-WLB where most MDs seem to prioritize family first. We’re in a H/MCOL area, so that comes with income demands.
We juggle what we can with nanny for the youngest, and school/care for the older two. A couple nights per week one of us is working after bedtimes, rarely weekends. Most importantly, the kids are safe and loved.

Mind if I DM you M1? I’ve been trying to make a similar switch from consulting to tech.
