McKinsey & Company I had a second round of interview with McK 1 week back but no one got back to me yet.
I only received a link to login to McK website where the status my job application shows “In Progress”.
I am not sure whether it takes so much time for McK to respond after the second round. Is anybody aware of this?

Anyone else feeling like work clothes are an endless money pit and just not enjoying it anymore? 😫
Yes. That said, you totally can have your own uniform. Limit the colors, but similar pieces, rotate those. A black blouse (or you can rotate colors of the blouse) and black pants with accessories looks fashionable and requires little thinking. You can also get a favorite, comforts let black heal to wear most days. Now the makeup and hair… that’s another story. For some reason, it takes me twice the time it did before the pandemic. I need to simplify.
Thank you! I’ve done the same makeup and hairstyle for the past 10 years+ lol so that part is easy for me. It’s the constant changing trends that kill me coupled with my body having changed I think!
I’ve felt like this for years after having kids. In fact I was still wearing my maternity pants until my last was 6 years old and finally just retired them. I too would love a uniform! Sometimes in our industry, that can be an acceptable thing if you own the staple look and make it your thang - like a “I don’t give an F and I choose to spend my mental power on more important things” type thing. I personally found myself dressing like a Montessori teacher with very basic outfits all in black or gray or some earth tone but after a big work trip I was forced to upgrade my wardrobe which got me excited about outfits. I even tried a clothing rental but while it was fun and helped me open up my mind to what I could wear (colors and patterns and styles), it was just too much work. I still quite basic and try not to follow trends. I buy classics with a twist and usually recycle a lot week after week. A lot of new clothes I did buy I don’t even end up wearing honestly bc I will be distracted by it vs being comfortable. For me the name of the game has been - look classy enough to be credible for those I manage, be comfortable and define my own look while not being too dated. Seeing a person at a high end dept store just to try on things helped me update and upgrade the way I thought about clothes and then I would buy the cheaper versions of stuff I liked. Hope that helps. You’re not alone!!
Thank you so much! Glad I am not alone in this. This also gives me some great ideas!
These expectations on how to dress and look are male contrived. Make your look your own. I think advertising/marketing/creative industries afford us women at least that—acceptance in doing things a bit “differently” because we work in a creative industry. Use it to your advantage. Keep it simple, minimalist in presentation.
Plus, as you all know, women clothing, women anything, always costs a lot more than for men. I’ve found some great things in consignment clothing, and stick with darks, grays and blacks, with one splash of color item or conversation piece. Dress like a room.
