Check out my portfolio and let me know if we’re a good profit match.

The tactics are mostly the same, as is the creative process, but a lot of this depends on the drug and client you work on. Also if the job you take is DTC or HCP.
I work on a large DTC client so the biggest difference is that the regulatory process requires you to work in certain ways and things take 2-4 times as long to complete. There is also a shit ton of proofreading time/effort. The length of projects can be tiring when it comes to resourcing and budget tracking.
I haven’t done HCP but there’s extra work there in terms of claims sourcing and fact checking which isn’t your job but it adds another layer. There are also tactics that are specific to healthcare that you might not encounter on a non-pharma account.
If you work on a launch brand, it’s a lot of fast paced work tied to FDA timing and regulations with hard deadlines.
At the end of the day a banner is a banner and a tv spot is a tv spot. There are extra rules and regs, but it’s easy to learn. There’s a lot of hurry up and wait.
I like it! It can be challenging but I think PM is critical to help with a lot of what I’ve mentioned above.
Thanks so much!
Very insightful! My goal is to eventually start a PM consulting firm and I’d like to get experience in Pharma, software - etc
What are your questions? I moved from traditional PM to pharma PM.
Were there any major challenges for you or was the transition pretty seamless? Anything you miss from the traditional side? What’s the biggest difference on the PM side of things?
Thank you in advance!
