That’s not completely true BCG1. No restrictions on RPUs. GPUs are a different story. I might struggle to upgrade a K fare, but will definitely try!
Not sure yet Accenture 1. MCK1 is trying to do this for me so I’ll keep you posted as soon as it works out.

GS can upgrade anything with GPU/RPU, including award tix
I’m gs and I thought only W and above was upgradable to Polaris with a Gpu. I know they come out of a different fare class but this is a game changer
Mckinsey1 is right. Award tickets can only be applied to your mileage tickets... not others. Also happy to help
I don't think they'll upgrade a K... they're typically pretty strict on that stuff
S1 - GS can upgrade award tix for others too, as long as awards were booked by GS member

How does this work exactly? If I book K fare, a GS member can upgrade me to business?

S1, do I need to be 1k for it to work? I’m Platinum on United (expect to hit 1k in a few weeks) and have a transatlantic trip next year - fare K that I would love to upgrade to business. Are GPUs transferable? Once I hit 1k, can I transfer two GPUs (2 people on the reservation) to a GS member for them to upgrade my trip to business? 🙏
Not transferable. How it works is you know a GS, they have GPUs they can’t use so they apply then to your ticket; your level does not matter. But all this is subject to availability but GS gets more access to seats. All they need is the last name on the ticket and the confirmation number. For me, last year I got 32 GPUs but with paid upgrades and status driven upgrades I didn’t need to use like half of them so I upgraded parents flights, close friends, and my wife when I could. This happens because they expire after one year. This is also why they are changing how they give these out next year. Flyers were not able to use what they got and therefore they would give them away like this thread
Thanks fo much S1. Is there a code in the United expert mode I should look for before asking a GS for upgrades? Also, are upgrades instant or is it a waitlist?

Pn0 might actually work. They may have updated the codes. I just looked at several of my flights and no PN1 just PN0
