Anybody working to exit to something outside of tech? Maybe to a particular industry? Something creative (art, music, etc)? Other? Just curious since we see a lot of tech exit wishes...

I would LOVE to exit to automotive. Tech is lame, but the money is great.

Tech in general sense / as a monolith is lame to those of us not really interested in it (I'm included in this group; not really trying to speak for the comment above). Individual things or experiences are cool absolutely but I don't care about developing anything, being a designer, or any of the PMing (project, product, and portfolio) or much of whatever else I've done / am doing here. There's still only one project i thought is legitimately interesting. I fell into it through a coding program, thought it might be cool, it's not. Have learned some stuff the same way anyone else picks up new knowledge by way of experiencing something. But I honestly just don't care and I'm bored. I'm paying my bills and doing some things on the side as I prepare to leave.

Any MBB fish that went from T2 > industry > MBB? Why did you go back into consulting? I am in a pretty good role right now but besides industry circles, I have no branding. MBB has invited me for interviews. Should I even consider? TC is about the same and I have decent hours. Worth going back for the brand, network, flexibility in/possibility of better exit opps?

Cold calling agencies. Is it weird to google/LinkedIn a specific person (HOP, say) and dial by name, directly call them? Agencies are massive and receptionists (if there is one) won’t direct you to a role. They want a name. For freelancers trying to network, this seems to be the only way in if you have no contacts there. Any thoughts or advice appreciated.

Hi all! For an experienced hire as a Human Capital Consultant at Deloitte, what should I expect the salary/sign-on bonus to be at a MCOL city? I have approx. 3.5 YOE (non-consulting), MBA and MS degree (non target school) and also SHRM certified (which is probably irrelevant for the role but thought I’d share anyways). Already did my research but the range is kind of all over the place for experienced hires so just want to have a ballpark. Thanks!

I’ve recently been offered a new job in Industry. It’s a good senior level leadership position working with smart people. The trouble is I actually really love my current consulting position but often find myself feeling burnt out. For context I’m a single mom with two young school age children and have found this past year particularly challenging. As I’m truly on the fence, what out my options internally? I’m scared to even mention the opportunity.

Thanks for any info or advice you can share!

Any advice?: Just finished long term W2 freelance role (since Jan) + I also have a small 1099 side project that‘ll be finishing up in 2ish wks. If we are talking >10k on 1099 (i.e. not enough to justify filing for SCorp) + <160-200k on W2 — is there any real tax advantage of opening LLC vs paying me directly outside of the “protects personal assets if ever sued”, etc? Technically I *could* open LLC quickly b4 invoicing- but dunno if worth $ to do so for such small amount of 1099 coming in?
