instead of coming up with answers to questions, write down 8-10 experiences that could be answers for many diff questions. make sure to extrapolate and try posing each situation to a few different questions. for example, maybe you write about a time you took lead on a group project. that can answer the question 1. what position do you normally take in a group setting 2. describe a time you worked with someone you didn’t get along with 3. give an example of a time you acted as a leader 4. how important is delegating to you etc.
Just be yourself. It’s a psychological screening some companies do. There’s no way to “game it”
8-10? WTF. Choose 4 stories that you have in mind, be able to spin them in any direction possible. STAR (Situation, Task, Activity, Results), if you want. Interviewers are more interested in how engaging you are then what your actual story is- if they have any questions, they will follow up. Ive had interviewers who ramble on, unstructured, etc. because its not like they are practicing their “interviewing” skills either- they are just wanting a normal conversation.
KPMG 1 nailed the advice, follow that approach.
I’ve already met with several VPs and they went very well. Now I’m meeting with HR for this 2 hour behavioral interview
Network to find out what the company values. Ensure your stories demonstrate those values.
Agree on 8-10 experiences that you can cast differently to cover a multitude of questions.
Best advice I ever got: learn to tell your stories in seven sentences. It will focus you on the critical items.
PRACTICE. Contrary to popular opinion, good organizations expect clean behavioral interviews. They're not just general conversations, and they're not easy for most people.
I think you definitely prepare and do well like the others said write and rehearse some different stories in a high level of detail and then you can apply them differently if needed
