You’re likely too tall. After thousands of years, it is finally short people’s time for superiority.
Have you tried compression socks?
I struggle more and more with swelling when I travel. What has helped is potassium and calcium, magnesium and zinc supplements. And definitely staying hydrated.

I have this problem with my knees specifically. Hydration, long compression socks, and making sure to stretch periodically during the flight help. I’m in my 20s and fairly short, so it’s not an age or height thing
Pro
No and I'm 44.
- Make sure you cut out booze/salty stuff
- Drink at least 1.5x the water you usually would during the flight
- Get up and move at least once an hour (walk up and down the aisle 2-3 times is fine and do some stretches)
If you do that you should be fine, you can also get some compression socks if you need to and take off your shoes.
During the flight? Only when inconsiderate people in front of me recline such that the tray table shifts my knee caps 😑
Tall tax…
How long are your flights? Be aware of the increased risk of developing blood clots when you sit for over 4 hours. https://www.healthline.com/health/blood-clots-and-flying.

Wdym? Are you flying economy on long flights?
You’re getting old.
But in all seriousness, you might want to get a general check up with your doctor
Talk to your doctor… things I find have helped: taking aspirin as a blood thinner (per my doctor’s instruction), compression socks, no salt or alcohol, hydrate hydrate hydrate (add low sodium electrolytes), elevate legs if possible, movement is key (walk/stretch) often…all that being said, I have only traveled once since the start of Covid…which has probably helped the most.
