Anyone have experience flying with pets on Delta? If they’re small do they have to remain in kennel the whole flight?

I’ve flown with my doodle (35lbs) on a couple different airlines including Delta and I feel like it really depends on the flight attendants. Some are excited/happy to be flying with dogs and allow them to be out of their kennel as long as it’s safe. While I feel like other flight attendants who prefer not to fly with dogs (or whatever the reason may be) will most likely discourage/not allow it.

From my previous experiences, most of the workers on my flight got super excited when they saw my dog and would offer him water/supplies + offered to help him out if needed. A few attendants actually approached me offering to let him out to stretch legs/sleep on the floor. But the majority of the time I would feel out the vibes/attitudes I received from the workers during the flight and if I got positive feedback, I would ask the flight attendant (and the passenger sitting next to you) if he can sleep on the floor outside his kennel

And since your dog is small too I feel like they’ll be more flexible!

Ah! They let you fly in cabin. I’ve been looking for an airlines that’s okay with dogs that weight. Mine is 35lbs as well and I wasn’t sure if he’d fit under a seat

Experienced pet flyer here! You’re supposed to keep your animal in the carrier at all times onboard unless it’s a service animal. Airlines are getting more strict about that. For both dogs and cats. Dogs can be walked in the airport terminal though as long as they are leashed:) For Delta specifically, I’ve had no problems!

I believe per FAA regulations they do unless they’re a service animal. I could be wrong though.

Also, I recently took a round trip from NY to CA flying Jetblue and was stressing about flying with my dog, even though we’ve had pretty good experiences in the past. But the flight was great, attendants were super sweet to him, and they were flexible on letting him out

Jetblue, then SWA, then Delta and AA.

Worst case scenario, the flight attendants are by the book and the dog has to stay in the carrier the entire time. You and the dog should prepare for that scenario and let anything else be a pleasant surprise.

Depends on the animal and who is on the flight. I have a severe allergy to cats and had to sit next to a woman who wanted to hold her cat. I asked her to put the cat back in the crate and she refused. I called the attendant and requested to be reseated and explained my allergy, which was already visible with watery red eyes and sneezing. They said they couldn't move either of us because the flight was fully booked. A nice passenger a few rows back offered to switch with me she was told the animal needed to stay in the crate for the flight. So, it worked out for everyone, albeit a bit sniffly and sneezy for me. If you have a cat, please keep that in mind. I usually know if one is onboard, even if it's the other side of the plane because my allergies plus recycled plane air equal a siren. Lol... I love kitties, but their dander hates me. It's a real catch 22. Good luck traveling with your pet, I hope it goes smoothly.

I’ve heard bad things about animal safety on delta

Please consider sedatives.

My vet never had a problem prescribing sedatives for my cat and dog when they flew, the key is having a vet i volved. Don't, like, just give them one of your Ambien.

Hey! Any Google folks know if it’s possible to negotiate fully remote if a contract role is hybrid? Personally, I don’t want to relocate and go to the office on a contract role given the current economy. Plus, I’m assuming contractors are the first to go in layoffs. I just think it’s a fair trade off if I’d be allowed to work fully remote. I’m also trying to have flexibility to manage my Airbnb business in a different country. Same time zone as the home office if I’d travel weeks at a time.
