Be aware the hours those people work are brutal. I took a different approach, got an MBA from a lesser known school, built a side business, and still landed a job in security consulting making right above $100,000. Total pay is $284k between business that requires maybe 10 hours a week and the regular job. I have lots of time with my kids and my marriage is doing great. At the end of the day, that's all that matters to me at 30
Most grads from Top 20 MBA schools make 200k right after graduation. He works at Google and is a few years post MBA. He is probably making around 500k total comp, if anything he’s deflating his numbers lol.
Sign on bonuses would be replaced by other forms of payment and salary increases though, your salary/total comp doesn’t drop from 1st year to 2nd and 3rd year….this doesn’t make any sense.
His page & advice changed the trajectory of my post-military career.
I was getting denied interviews for $65k jobs as I was leaving. I then attended a T20 MBA program.
I now make $175k base.
His career advice and perception on the current culture imbedded within our military (specially officers) are both accurate.
Love to hear it! Congrats man! Agreed on all points.
300k TC in business is not that unheard and definitely obtainable 5-7 years post grad school (better than spending that time as a staff O3-O4).
His content is insightful for active duty Os who don’t get out bc they think 100k is the best they can do as an O5.
Well if you’re average, you should probably stay in and retire as an O-5…
But even an “average” grad from a T20 MBA program or Tier-1 law school will do better getting out as a pre-command JMO rather than stayingin.
And FWIW, I’ve never heard S2S say “this is what everyone will make.” He simply gives perspective of what is possible.
No. Don’t know him but looked him up after reading your post. Just another “influencer” trying to make money off you. If what he says actually works, why is he trying to sell it to you?
He’s trying to sell an MBA to you? Veterans are pretty altruistic. He’s just giving advice in a humorous manner
He always posts about his salary? When?
This is a weird post.
Your opening sounds like you’re an S2S hater. Does he really live this rent free in your head?
Ok I’ll bite, first full year after T20 MBA made $195K TC, second year base is $200K (bonus TBD) and about to exit at 2 year mark to a $300K+ TC role. I can see a path to $500K TC five years out of b-school.
Reiterating again - huge fan of his work. For real.
Just want to caution some vets going into mba programs that not every career path makes you $500K/yr by year 5.
He has never posted his compensation figures; where did you get that info?
I don’t have an MBA and make $290k TC.
