How do you guys make friends in a new town?

For those of you with immediate family members who are at high risk, how are you doing? I find myself being very anxious and stressed about my father getting sick.

Pregnant with my third child now and wondering what is the right time to tell work. I did it really early with my first two because I wanted to plan ahead, but now thinking about it, I feel like it just set me up for failure those years because I was reassigned from tasks and kept underutilized.

Just taking the opportunity to get current. Sober 3 years and 10 months. This past couple weeks have been stressful and my mind slipped into fantasizing about my drug of choice. Last week I flipped out at some of my wife's family. I did an amends and I think time will heal this one. It's all up to HP. Although I have neglected my morning practice this week, I'm practicing self compassion with positive self talk.

What is your favorite parent communication tool and why? I used Seesaw this last year and it worked fine, but I’m considering checking out class dojo. Thoughts?

My friend’s ex is trying to win her back and she hates being single and like I ~should~ discourage this, but on a selfish level I want to be able to go out on his boat again this summer. He’s not a particularly horrible guy, but they’re a bad match when it comes to values/goals, which is why it didn’t work out the last time.

I’m so scared to let a relationship that gives me anxiety go because I’m 36 F and feel like I’m not going to find anyone else. He’s not a horrible person, but he can be inconsistent. When I bring it up to him he says he’ll try harder but then always goes back to default. I stick around because I think it’s more a personality trait and not that he’s not interested in me (maybe I’m naïve). Could really use some encouragement from a bunch of strangers.

Has anyone here been in a situation where following up to the wedding was a lot of stress and fighting, but after you got married things became better?

I’ve 90 min for ELA & 6 kids. I need to teach phonics, curriculum (has 0 phonics), & goals & they need freq. breaks. Admin’s making me use said curric. Any ideas?? Small groups and rotate? TIA!

When did you know your firm wasn't right for you? I'm not sure if it's just the stress of being a new attorney with a family or if my job isn't the right fit. I work in civil litigation and am consistently below my billables. I can't stay late because my kids need me and I can't work on the weekends because I have to maintain my house and take care of my kids. I'm being constantly told to work harder, stay later, etc but it's not practical. Or am I not approaching this with the right mindset?

How to politely tell my partner stop spending too much time on playing video games? It was my false at first. I introduced Zelda breathe of the wild to her and now, she is hooked. She even played game when we had the movie night. This is a question about friendships. Two friends got into a really bad fight this past weekend. They have each asked me to hang out this weekend. What do I do? I don’t want to have to choose sides. Is anyone else facing the brunt of working in a service based company and trying to move to a startup product company being dragged down by the 90 days notice period.

I have had a couple of interviews with good startup product companies where the main issue is my 90 days of notice period. Most startups simply run away at the mention of 90 days NP.

Even established product companies shy away at this. Has anyone recently switched despite this long a notice period?

Best way to prepare for SHRM ?
Any tips or resources that helped you pass the exam?

I have a great loyal local client who has me on retainer. But with the covid pandemic, they have come on hard times and are about to be two months behind on payment. They keep sending me work and I want to support them pushing through this.
