I just started my first day at a startup (on the executive team) but a new friend of mine wants to utilize me as a part-time portfolio manager/financial advisor given my entrepreneurial, VC, & operational background. His holdings are $10m+ and mostly in real estate but he wants to get more involved in tech investing. I have a background in both and it won’t violate my obligations. What terms should I offer him? I was thinking: 1% AUM and 10% profits. Please offer any advice.

On an initial call with a company's recruiter, I was told the salary range. I said that the base pay is lower than what I make now, but with equity it's about equal, so it would be ok. If I actually receive an offer after the interview process, can I ask the company to match or at least get closer on the base pay? Is it a bad idea to give my notice before my background check clears? I’m due to start at EY soon but my background check is going to clear less than 2 weeks before my start date. Advice for studying for CISA? I’ve purchased the CRM, QAE, and Hemang Doshi’s book. So far I’m having trouble reading through the CRM because it’s so detailed that everything seems important and difficult to retain.
