I used to work at a Wendy’s and now do tax
I will put in a good word for you
I went from tax to getting admitted to medical school. Didn’t go and now I’m an implementation consultant 😭
Opportunity cost and wondering if I’d like the speciality I had the highest probably of matching into (I was admitted to a DO school). I was a few years older than the average matriculant and had/have young kids to think about.
Bought a construction related company, grew it from under $1 million in sales to $7 million + and sold it. Built and sold another company, went back accounting.
How much did you net from each sale?
Went from being a small business owner in an automotive type of industry to working in accounting at a private company and can not stand it at all. Thinking I made a huge mistake getting my bachelors in accounting and making a career change.
Oil & Gas PM (building offshore drilling vessels) to tech implementation. Better money & lower stress
Both were PM roles which I feel more easily translate to other industries than some roles. If you understand a Waterfall/Agile hybrid it’s pretty much similar. Early on I was a training fiend on my own time to better understand the product(s)
My brother hated the WFH change that came during COVID and decided he wanted to go from Insurance Adjuster based career to becoming a doctor. He’s going into his second year of med school. Takes balls to do that and just gotta be fully committed to that change!
I worked at a calibration lab for 6 years and now I’m an accountant
Finally, a smart soul get out of accounting. It's a good basis for a lot of things you can do in business, especially today when they're so many specialties even in technology and I would bet you have decent knowledge and technology obviously can look into the private sector accounting or perhaps venture out into the finance world. You have so many avenues in front of you. I'm not saying it's gonna be easy, but you will find greater rewards than you do in the accounting field financially and career growth, especially which is designed so partners get richer and they go through the lower ranks faster when I was younger, it was called senior manager was the level partner. It had 2 to 3 years to make it to partner he didn't you had to leave morons they were losing a lot of good accountants with incredible billing statistics so that's not the case anymore they took advantage of the years of experience that is necessary to become a CPA so they could suck the blood out here and then come in with the fresh crop, but they've learnt, that was stupid. Even the partners don't have a life I knew the vice chairman of KPMG he constantly traveled and ruined. His marriage was not a good life to say he made money and so forth, but you know the one thing he didn't have was health ended up getting kidney cancer and died relatively younger than he should've, just remember you're not gonna be remembered when you're dead how hard you worked, but the impact you had other peoples lives
Can you dm me please?
