Im not searching for a new job but an acquaintance reached out about a similar role at a similar energy company.Turns out 2 ppl threw my name in the hat. I looked into it and the position was posted 2 weeks ago.Their director wants to meet.I bet pay is one of the first things to be discussed so that no one’s time is wasted.Am I crazy for not wanting to entertain it for less than 20-25% base pay increase? Is it selfish to ask for more? I’m sure most salary conversations end in negotiation anyways?

I pivoted into a compliance role and I really didn't like it. I am actually moving back into a billable position now.
Overall it stunk being a roadblock in the organization rather than a direct value add. Compliance is typically seen as a hindrance rather than a help until something goes horribly wrong.
I spent huge portions of my time chasing people who I needed things from and making work product that was oversimplified/didn't matter/wouldn't be approved by leadership for rollout.
Add in the stress of feeling like a ruined my legal career by leaving billable positions, it was not great.
im in a compliance role and got plenty of in house legal interviews and, chasing people down is more of a big company issue than a compliance vs counsel issue. All my in house friends in F100 companies all deal with that, only startup lawyers are able to excercise more autonomy
