Where do you live, OP? If I lived in AZ, NM or CA, I totally would. And maybe even TX. I'm up in MAN, and am struggling with keeping a pesticide and artificial fertilizer free yard. Doesn't look like Better Homes & Gardens, but is at least not going to poison the kid. That said, I feel it's super important for kids to be able to play with/in dirt. So personally am considering sod for the front yard.
*MN - damnit, autocorrect!
I am totally cool with fake grass. I pay a lot of money on yard maintenance.
I'm in Houston
I have no problem with the kids in dirt, it's more just lack of time to maintain it
Yeah, i get it. And a lawn service isn't an option? Lived in Katy for a bit, and pool and lawn service were a lifesaver. Granted, irrigation is also a cost driver.
Yeah ok. I think I'll try a lawn service for a few months before giving up completely
A good lawn service will work wonders, but you won't see much of a difference in a few months, unless you're talking about just keeping it mowed. If you want a nice, lush lawn, it'll take a good year or so to get it there, depending on how bad the weeds and bare spots are
OP - Suggest checking with your HOA if you are part of one. My wife's friend in San Diego had to fight her HOA to get fake lawn installed. The following year, more neighbors jumped on the bandwagon. Good luck!
Our HOA is useless. It's a new build subdivision and not all the houses are sold yet so they've been pretty hands off. Thanks for the idea though, may bring it up down the line
What city? We did this in our Chicago 'yard'
