I work on a consulting team at a large software company. I’m a job hopper, around 2 years each at my first and second jobs and a little over a year at this job. I started a full time in-house design job that pays extremely well. I barely have to work at all. I've been offered for Engineering expert position at Novartis India. I've received offer letter 2 weeks back and my DOJ is updated to Mid December. I told the HR that my current company's last working day is on mid January and resend the offer letter with mid Jan as my DOJ. But they told that they can send the revised offer letter 3 weeks before the joining date.
Is this normal process? Has anyone gone through similar experience?

One of the reasons I want to transition from industry to consulting (tier 1) is that I get frustrated when I have to collaborate with mediocre people. My assumption is that Tier 1 consulting firms hire really sharp people and if I can get in, I’ll be collaborating with folks on top of their game (not expecting much from clients). I’m aware there are personal aspects I need to work on like my mindset, patience etc etc, but I just get so frustrated with blatant stupidity.

A quick note about what I’ve experienced, in my decade long career, is the real advantage of MBB or FAANG - it gives you a shot at stretch roles that are outside your expertise. Not all the time or even most of the time compared to better candidates with specific experience for the role but gives you this wildcard shot at a vast array of opportunities.
