Anyone switch groups at EY mid-year? I got a raise of about 12.5% effective in April for a new role (audit to advisory) -- they said I would be eligible for a raise 10/1. Should I expect it to be low?

The question is whether we will even get raises this year.

PC told me the transferring groups salary adjustment is based on your historical ratings and the historical raises of your destination group. In other words had you started in this group with your same performance ratings your salary would be X. That's effective on my transfer date. Then on 10/1, you get the normal raise for the group you're in.

Agree with EY1 - you should see a raise.

Senior attorneys at v100, how common is it for attorneys who start at small firms to lateral to biglaw? Have you worked with any? Conventional wisdom is always that if you don’t start there it’s hard to “trade up”. My coworker and I just did it to two different great v30 firms, and I’m wondering if it’s really that uncommon? Just out of curiosity. We’re not special counsel with special niche skills or anything, just associates. Pitfalls to beware? Positives?

I know that some other associates at my level are approximately 30% behind other associates in hours on a month to month basis. Yet all of these associates say they are “at capacity”, and myself and another associate still end up being assigned work instead of them. How do we handle this? For reference, all associates are around the firms minimum requirement, it’s just that a few of us are 30+% over and it is leading to burnout.

Thinking of switching employers. Do you think bigger retail stores (the ones that have several locations) are easier or harder to work at than little hole-in-the-wall grocery stores (which is all I've ever done)? It seems like the larger chain stores would have more downtime, but I'm wondering if anyone could give some input.
