Got a random email from a supposed Amazon recruiter for a SDE position (which is not at all a fit). The email is amazon.com domain and there are no red flags in the body but it doesn't feel like an Amazon recruiter due to the tacky signature, etc. Has anyone seen this kind of cold-calling from FAANG recruiter?

Let’s not judge people who are trying to do a nice thing. Things are already difficult.
I guess that’s my question - are they trying to do a nice thing or just making a statement to their network?
I noticed writers/journalists used to do this a lot on Twitter whenever there was a round of layoffs at one publication or another. From what I understand, it's just a show of support that rarely, if ever, results in folks getting hired.
LinkedIn might be different though.
They genuinely meant well...it just didn't result in job opportunities
I thought it was a bit insensitive. I hope the people posting lists got an ok by the individuals on the list..privacy and such still matter despite trying to be a helping hand
You could look at it either in a positive or a negative light. Since this COVID affected a large population, it says nothing about people’s skills, hence it’s safe to be on that list.
At this point, it’s a game of numbers, the more people sees your resume, the higher probability you have at finding a new job.
While you look at it from the lense of an employee, a recruiter or hiring manager might think differently.
