New to Toronto, moved to the west end of town/ just past - in Etobicoke. Hello! I’m currently a Administrative assistant now working at a major medical system in Baltimore. I’ve previously worked for 10 years as a medical assistant in a variety of specialties and primary care. Lately, I’ve been feeling a bit stuck as to my next step. Part of me want to go into management, another part is saying go get your RN, and the other is saying go into Social Work. I’m all over the place. Any ideas? And how would I be able to cross over to management?

Has anyone left healthcare and is now really happy? I’m an MSN, RN with 12 years hospital experience. I’m burned out and tired of making crap pay. I have an opportunity outside of healthcare that would pay more and challenge me in new ways that I haven’t experienced before. How would you handle not getting a lunch break when you are a salaried employee treating patients for 40 hours a week? I don’t get documentation time either, but all notes are to be completed the same day. Some of us have reached out to HR and we’re told to discuss it with the regional director, but the regional director says we’d have to come in early or leave late to block out a lunch break. My commute is an hour each way, so I’d prefer not to make my day any longer. Advice?

HR opinion: Do I have any leverage as a hospital nurse case manager in negotiating earned time? I have 15 years within the organization, left for 10 months to be remote during the pandemic while sorting out childcare as immunocompromised family helped. Now HR is restarting my ET as a new employee. I realize I left, but not on bad terms and I am an exemplar and respected employee.
