The part that isn't realistic is the amount of PTO we get, with the utilization targets... 🙄
Please complete all these these tasks on your personal time. (Unspoken request from all consulting firms)
Yes targets are realistic, that stuff shouldn't take much time at all
Realistic
Realistic as long as they actually sell projects 🤣
Isn't your target less as a manager OP? Should be if you have people management responsibilities now. Our targets seem reasonable to me.
Agree with KPMG1. Managers has lower utilization. I have 8 counselees and no problem in meeting the target or dealing with admin works. I spend my Friday working on non client work but there's still 80% if you are fully utilized.
Unless you are looking for 9-5, then maybe this is not the right field.
I’ve never once had a hard time hitting utilization targets, but I don’t take much vacation. Usually end up at ~95% for the year
I’ve been at 100% last 2 years but will get boned this year because of lack of work
Ok I guess it was easier when I was more junior but as a Manager I find these difficult to hit
I remember when Manager targets were in the high 70’s, I guess that went out the window as soon as times got rough in Advisory
Utilization targets for junior staff always seem a bit of a silly idea. If partners don’t sell, nobody works.
Ha yeah if your utilization sucks you’re draining the firm of money. Low utilization = low impact to PwC and impact is all that matters so expect your rating and bonus to suffer. As long as you are getting a 3 or better you’ll move up a letter in the cohort for your 1.5% raise 😏
Makes it easier to justify layoffs...
I spend on average 30 seconds per day on time sheets and an average expense report takes no more than 5 minutes once or twice a week. Independence is fed by BSP and preclearance is quick. R&Q is a necessary evil during sales and engagement startup. Wheee is your big time sink here?
Manager targets are pretty high still.
Seniors are mid/high 80s while managers still target low 80s?
If partners don't sell, they are surplus. Then the best will still be utilized while the rest will get thinned out.
And I don't think a single bad year of utilization is the judgement to not provide a bonus, raise nor promotion. But repeated offenders may be a pattern that the skill is not lining up with the need.
