My office had two staff get promoted to senior recently and one had been with the firm for about 3 years and the other only 1.5 (had intern experience with the firm though). From talking with them both cause I’ll probably get promoted next year, the 3 year staff enjoys being senior a lot more than the 1.5 year staff. Since he had more time to understand everything before getting promoted, it wasn’t much of a jump up for him while it was quite a jump for the 1.5 year staff.
I’m not pushing for promo right now because I know I have a big year ahead and I don’t need the added stress lol. (Planning a wedding and planning to get pregnant).
I think 12-24 months “too long” in a role is fine in the grand scheme of your career. If you’re not ready to move now just wait 3-6 months and see how you feel then. You’ll be okay!

Been pushing for it all year, and was just looked over for a few roles. My leader keeps telling me to keep doing what I’m doing and my accomplishments are being talked about in the leadership circle each time I ask about it, but it’s seeming more and more like a carrot dangle. I don’t see myself here long term because of it, but the job market is not so great right now.
