Making himself at home in my home office!

The new company I’m at now sent me an email from an email address that was HR@companyName.careers saying I was accepted for the position. They gave me paperwork to fill out and sign to accept the position
I fill out the paperwork and send it back to them and it goes through… then a few days later I go back to the email to say something else and I get this…?
Then today I got a check from the company In the mail to setup my home office, and it’s signed by someone I’ve never met before or heard of…?

Got a random email from a supposed Amazon recruiter for a SDE position (which is not at all a fit). The email is amazon.com domain and there are no red flags in the body but it doesn't feel like an Amazon recruiter due to the tacky signature, etc. Has anyone seen this kind of cold-calling from FAANG recruiter?

Lighting: depends on your window situation. If too dark, a $30 ring light can be a game changer
Desk: desk that can be converted to standing desks can be worth it if you actually use it but put you in higher price bracket
Get a laptop stand, good keyboard, mouse and a usb c hub/dongle, so you just need to plug a single cable into your laptop.
Chair: spend the big bucks here, absolute game changer if you have a good one.
Sound: I like to invest in proper audio equipment. Getting compliments of my great audio since I invested in a desk microphone.
Monitor: figure out what the right size is for you and consider the resolution. Once it gets over 27” the classic 1080p might bot be enough. Spend the 30 dollars on a monitor arm you can mount to your desk. Being able to adjust your monitor freely is great.
+1 for vertical laptop stand, freed up so much surface area on my desk and looks great
Pretty wide question. For me no brainer is a good office chair, external monitor (the bigger the better), nice mouse and keyboard. Ergo stand etc are not necessary imho.
