At Microsoft, is there a (un)spoken policy that if your referrer is x level or above, you’re guaranteed a recruiter screen as a courtesy to the referrer even if they don’t think you are a good fit and plan to ding you? Last year applied for a few roles with a Sr. PM referral...nada, this week, applied for a role with a Sr. Director referral and got reached out to by recruiter. Wondering if they are doing it a courtesy/don’t want to piss off senior folks vs they genuinely think I might be a fit.
