I know Intel has lot of benifits like free cab, child day care reimbursement, telephone bill reimbursement, 15% discount on shares purchase, very good leave structure, Free UDEMY for developing skills, Intel wiki for lot of knowledge gathering etc... You get the month + buy cobra to tide over till you find your next employer.
Yeah, I'm not concerned with cobra, just would like to time my last day at the start of a new month since I've met deductibles for the year
Get the month
There’s also a program called COBRA that is federally mandated, it usually allows you to extend limited coverage for 3-6 months. ESP. After a lay-off.
It really varies by employer. I think most keep you on until the end of the month but some kick you off effective the day of termination, so you need to check.
And yes, under COBRA you can continue your medical/Rx/dental/vision for up to 18 months but you’d be paying the full cost plus 2%. SC1 is likely referring to a severance package where the company subsidies COBRA (usually down to what you were paying as an active employee) but this is not mandated.
Also keep in mind that you can elect COBRA retroactively up to 60 days after you leave. So if you’re just gonna have a short gap in employment and have no medical issues, you’re better off not electing anything at the outset unless you have an emergency.
