@D1 you’re trying to make it 1:1 and it’s not. The analogy I’m making is that both examples illustrate a clear dichotomy between outwardly expressed beliefs vs private actions.
I exaggerated the comparison (in regards to not paying a woman because you don’t like her) to underscore that discrepancy:

Everyone attacking OP even after they gave context is totally telling. This is why I’m generally uncomfortable about white liberals. You all love talking up a big game when it concerns MAGA bros, but when it comes to your own actions you’d rather screenshot a BLM donation receipt than own up to anything.
The ACD virtue signals allyship, yet cannot be bothered to do something that is pretty damn easy to help a black creative get back on their feet. Ghosted them, in fact, until said black creative threatened to CC the C-suite.
This is bare minimum stuff here folks. But go ahead, keep sharing those Instagram story slide shows so your friends know you’re one of the good ones while people like OP continue to get fucked by your lack of willingness to change anything that disrupts you personally.
@ CD2 here’s the point your missing. In my post I didn’t call the ACD a racist. In fact, I didn’t even mention race until (I’m guessing) y’all assumed I was white by the comments (“what does this have to do with BLM?”) that’s why I added the context for clarity.
The point is the hypocrisy of outward social justice performance with a CLEAR cognitive dissonance in real world actions. THAT’S what I took issue with.
And to be frank, in an industry that’s heralded itself as a vehicle of change, I find it annoying and hypocritical that members in it (this thread) are still missing—and mischaracterizing—this incident as another black guy playing the race card.

Honestly you’re responsible for grabbing any of your work before something like this happens. I lost my job in February. I always save my work somewhere I can access it because you never know when something will happen. Sure, it’s kind of them to hand the comps off but they are under no obligation too.
The designs weren’t finalized before I left. So the hand off was necessary after the fact. Also keep in mind this is all remote at this point in lockdown (lay-off as well).
This post leaves out considerable information. The only concrete part of the communication is that someone wouldn’t share samples of work until really pushed.
Who is woke/unwoke in the scenario? Is one person black and one white? What is the connection to BLM? You left all that out. If you’re in advertising- a business of communication- you’re going to have to do better.
Thanks. I did see an attempt at clarification. It’s just that in matters that are important we need to be crystal clear from the start. That’s the best way to find those who can empathize and support any potential injustice. So I still needed to articulate my point. If it truly was a matter of race that they held back, that’s unacceptable, disgusting, and fucked up.
