That is so disrespectful. I have a very long and somewhat difficult to spell name and have only had this happen a handful of times in my career and never had someone do it habitually so I never took offense. Having it become a habit is crazy.
I think I would start responding to emails where they spell it wrong like:
“Hello ABC,
[response to the actual subject of the email].
As a side note, I’m not sure where the confusion has come from, but my name is spelled XYZ. If you have any problems remembering the spelling in the future please reference my email address and email signature, where it is spelled correctly.
Thank you,
XYZ.”
Love this! I use similar language.
It’s hard not to take it personal but it’s a reflection on them. If your office uses initials, I’ve also moved to signing emails with my initials “Thanks, AB”
Start misspelling theirs. People tend to call me by my last name which makes no sense of what my last name would be if you call me by my last name first. So I started to call them by their last name to prove a point
Checkmate. I play chess they play checkers. Once or twice I get it but when you disrespectful I have to mirror you
Has it been addressed before? If it has been addressed before bring it up to HR
My name has a variation of spelling in another culture with a difference of one vowel. Having my name misspelled is my pet peeve. When someone misspells my name, I reply by substituting the same vowel in their name that they substituted in mine. It's petty, but I think it gets the point across.
Someone did same to me at work repeatedly. I called her out on a big group email and said hey, I noticed that you’ve been omitting the letter x in my name - paraphrasing. She has since stopped emailing me.

That’s so petty and you sound like a ridiculous person.

Is it a common misspelling? My name is constantly misspelled by people I know who have known me for years, and it’s a common name and a common misspelling. You know what I do? I just keep living my life. Unless you’d like to be the person who sends out a firm-wide email about how much it hurts your feelings, just let it go.
Time to start misspelling all their names. If they correct you say “Oh! Opps! Did you know you misspell my name as well?” 🤨
