So I had an interview last Friday for a contract to hire role that I thought went really well. So up until today there wasn’t a peep from the recruiter hiring for role, so I reached out. The recruiter then asked me how comfortable I was in a fast paced environment. I responded by telling her that after working a mix of agency and client side, yes. I honestly thought the answer was pretty self explanatory. She then pushed for more details, which I provided an example of. Red flag?
Where do you search for jobs other than LinkedIn? Once found how do you go about it? Clearly for me … applying online isn’t working.
How do you prepare for case interviews with industry companies? I imagine the best way to understand their background is looking at the platform, their monetization strategies, earnings reports etc etc. What kind of possible questions could be asked in the case scenario?
Had an interview with a recruiter who laughed at me when I said I was looking for a senior role. Laundry service, I’m sorry, but you should start hiring people who respect people.
Thoughts on Zoom job interview dress code? My instinct is a tailored dress or nice blouse. I feel like a blazer could come off as too formal but curious to know your thoughts/if anyone here has experience. Thanks in advance!
Someone is conducting a job interview during breakfast in the Marriott lounge. Everyone can hear the questions/answers. It's for a sales job. This is weird.
After I get my H1B. Do I stop ticking the “need sponsorship” while applying for new jobs?
Hi!! Has anyone here interviewed for an AWS role? I’ve linked the role below. My dad is interviewing for this role and I would love to give him some tips on how to suceed. He’s super excited! I’m less technical and he’s an immigrant so want to help him prepare the best I can! Any advice on interviewing at Amazon in general/this role would be helpful! Check out this job at Amazon Web Services (AWS): Senior Database Consultant https://www.linkedin.com/jobs/view/2601054269
Interviewed on the brand side with a very well known beauty company. They wanted to take my 5 years of experience and only pay $65k (NYC). The recruiter said I should really be flexible and be open to a salary cut if I want to move to the brand side. I know this such bullshit having done other interviews in the past.
Applying to T15 in R2. Currently have a 700 GMAT (43Q, 41V) after taking once. Even if I raise my quant to 47, which would be impressive for me, I’ll still be at a 700 (possibly 710). 3.6 undergrad GPA. Worth retaking? Or just focus on the rest of my applications?
Interviewing at two companies. Company A I’m already at the Partner interview next week. Company B first interview is next week. Problem is company B is totally my preference. I feel confident I’d get it but I can’t be 100% sure. What have you guys done in scenarios where you have multiple offers landing at staggered times? I don’t want to resign for a competitor only to join a different firm in the end - feels like it makes me look confused and unreliable.
So I just finished an interview round for a startup, and despite my better judgement, I built a model for measuring success of a marketing campaign - part of their ‘case exercise’ to be completed at home. They just let me know that they’re going with ‘other candidates’ and I realized I built them a reusable framework for free. 🤡
Had a second interview with the head of the group and after he told me they’re still bringing candidates in for the next couple of weeks and I should stay tuned in. So, what gives? Should I take this as a soft rejection? It is my experience that when a firm wants you they’re more inclined to give definite timelines and not hedge their bets as much…. Am I reading too much into this?
Any suggestions for escaping the ops life? Just took level 3 and have been doing interview prep... unsure how long I should look internally before looking outside of the nest
Hi. I’m currently thinking of applying to Ms Data Science at Harvard University (https://www.seas.harvard.edu/applied-computation/graduate-programs/masters-data-science). 1YOE, Strong T2, Canada 1st University, 3.5 GPA Electrical Engineering, 5 months internship in Food-tech startup (No GRE as it is not considered in the application). Do I stand a chance?
Thoughts on part-time check-the-box MBA? I’’ 32, and am on track for promotion to SM. I can’t justify doing a part-time MBA at a top school and taking on all the debt. An MBA has always been a goal of mine, and some state schools provide an affordable price tag but I’m not sure if it’s worth it at all if it’s not a top 20 school.
What does growth look like for a typical recruiter. What’s the next step in their career? I’ve been a recruiter for 3 years now and thinking about doing an online MBA while still working.. is that a good move?
Hi Today I received a call from the Accenture recruiter who had discussed my HR round and my profile was put on hold. She told me that at level 10 the maximum fixed salary can be 11.10 LPA and rest variable. 11.10 is fine or can they increase upto 13 LPA? I told her to proceed my profile although I am having offers from other organisation like PWC with 14 fixed, but I beleive Accenture is better in terms of work life balance and onsite opportunity. Tech Stack : SSIS, SQL developer YOE: 5.6 years
Any tips for dealing with car rental insurance on a Amex corporate card? Is it through the company or the card?
Anyone work for ServiceNow? How’s WLB? Culture? Pay? I have an interview and don’t know what to expect.
Anyone from big4 has experience in having its H1b transfer filed within a week after accepting the offer?
I've had a junior (by level but not age) client resource that has been rude and disrespectful since the day he joined a couple weeks ago. I finally had enough today and told him off in an email and called him out for his disrespectful tone and language. My director (who was also on the email) sent me a ping saying that I wasn't out of line and that it was warranted and he'll handle any reactions stemming from that exchange. Nice to know that he has my back ...continued
Anyone take courses/get a degree from Harvard Extension School? Experience? Was it worth it? Are you also able to build a network? Realize it’s not like an MBA, but that doesn’t fit my life now .
Anyone in salesforce? Salesforce is the one company where I feel like applying through the portal is equivalent to having it sunk in a dark hole. The posting doesn’t have a recruiter tagged on LinkedIn so I can’t even send an in mail. Help please!! I want to maximize my visibility of 1 in 3 applications in 12 months lol
ACN 🐠, salary check for Applied Intelligence Manager with 8YOE? Any additional components like transport allowance, broadband reimbursement, Bonus, signon that you are aware of?
Got an offer that I am not too excited about but really need to get out of current job. I have a few other potential interviews in the pipeline. Do I accept this job (incl. sign contract) and bail later or do I reject?
What are the different client facing ranks at all the firms, in order from lowest to highest, and how many years are typically spent at each before being promoted to the next?
Anyone have global entry? What was your experience with the TSA interview? And is it all worth it? Im justifying it as a small extra fee on top of Precheck.
My H1B decision was under appeal after denial and was just overturned and approved. Unfortunately I was outside the country at the time and now require stamping to enter back however....
How important is it to workout with a trainer if you have weak joints/cant do a high impact exercise. I did nothing for a yr - now my knees hurt, my butt burns while sitting, my ankles crack, the list goes on... I tried physical therapy but the 4 sessions I went to - I mean not worth the $100+ that I had to pay (post insurance). At this point, I'm wondering if it makes sense to get a personal trainer and to ease the transition back to a somewhat consistent workout schedule. Fully vaxxed btw...
My sister works at a company that is so backward and toxic it scares me. They didn’t have Skype before the pandemic and now use Zoom. She’s trying to get a laptop to WFH with b/c the one that they issued her is from 2005 and is a nightmare to work with, but her boss wants to save money and get her a desktop instead of a laptop b/c they won’t be working from home after COVID. However, he has no problem ordering the newest equipment and WFH himself even before COVID. All I gotta say is toxic.
*In client review* Emo me: “Just for the record the weather today is slightly sarcastic with a good chance of A. Indifference and B. Disinterest in what the critics say."
