Chase Sapphire Reserve
Chase Sapphire Reserve.
$450 annual fee is offset by $300 yearly travel credit and free global entry/TSA application. (Obviously on top of the 100k points promo which has about a $1500 redemption value)
Pro tip: If you time your card application right, you can get $600 worth of travel credit before you have to pay your $450 annual fee. (Ex. Sign up in march. You have $300 travel credit for 2017 and then receive another $300 credit at the beginning of 2018 before your annual fee comes due.)
Pro tip 2: Uber Eats qualifies for the travel credit. So if all else fails, you can eat $300 worth of free food.
Really depends on how much you spend, what you spend it on and if you pay off your balance monthly. For travel, Chase Sapphire Reserve is the hot card right now. Amazing perks but comes with a hefty $450 annual fee though. You can drop some of the perks and go with preferred version with $0 annual fee. Do some math first to check your break even on that $450. It's not simple when you factor in the different perks. For cash back, best card is probably the Citi double which in effect gives you 2% on everything. Especially good if you pay your balance monthly. Best rate out there. I would have one but I already get 1.5 and don't want to hurt my credit score.
Agreed, Mr. Franklin. The break even analysis is really if you want to keep the card after year one. The perks to start are amazing. Definitely the best in the business. However going forward, if you're not spending money on travel, your paying $450 for $300 worth of travel/free food.
For most people Citi double cash
