I liked Babylist for my public registry because you can pull anything from anywhere in. But I also created a private registry on Amazon so I could take advantage of 15% off on anything I didn’t receive from my public registry. I also put a bunch of stuff on the Amazon registry that were personal items (like postpartum recovery products) that I wouldn’t put on a public registry

Third-ing this approach! This is what I did

I liked babylist because it showed multiple sites for an item and they’re differing prices. Surprisingly Amazon wasn’t always the cheapest and didn’t have everything

Have you found the Babylist browser button (and iPhone sharing feature)? Super easy and my husband uses it now too. I created a registry on Amazon and shared it with Babylist. Not sure if that will add value but it checked the boxes of both.

Under settings, transfer or link.
I did Amazon, Buy buy baby and then eventually babylist more to keep track of random things I need wanted from third party sites (nice diaper bags, things from Etsy, nordstrom etc. I had two showers so I ended up sharing the babylist with one where it was mostly friends/peers. To be honest my older family had a lot of trouble navigating the confusing user experience on babylist and always forgot to mark something as purchased after buying it (you have to go back to the site and mark as purchased). Babylist also doesn’t show if something ends up being sold out after you add to the registry and you have to handle any returns of items bought 3rd party with the individual retailers.

I have to agree with this. My parents’ generation never marked that they bought something so we panicked anytime some package showed up with no note and was still shown as needed on the babylist registry
Amazon for the 20% off definitely!!
I like Babylist to help keep track of who gave what. Even if someone gives me a physical present, I can add them after the fact. Helps with the thank you notes.
Wow thank you all so much!! This is incredibly helpful!! Love the idea of making multiple registries and making one public! Appreciate the insight
I liked Babylist and wish I had not used it. They are unable to track when a gift is purchased, so the purchaser has to go back and mark it as purchased. Lots of my friends had no issue with this, but it caused lots of duplicate gifts and confusion for my aunts and older family member. I know lots of people love it though!
I did Amazon and Target as public and had some items on private. I also had a BuyBuyBaby and made that one private! I didn’t like Babylist because it wasn’t always the cheapest and thought that the discount wouldn’t be useful since I’d buy most things at the other stores anyway
