Bit of a niche question, but keen for other dad opinions. My 7 yo son loves reading his kindle, mostly for Pokémon comic books but he does also read chapter books. But he races through them like faster than I could, and if I stop him to ask what happened on even just the page before he can’t give accurate answers. To me it seems like he obviously skips over a lot of the details, but he claims to read everything then forgets. Cont’d below

Should I be
a) happy that he enjoys reading and leave it at that
b) concerned that he doesn’t have attention span to read a book properly and recall facts
Remembering that he is still only 7

Their in first grade, be happy their attempting to read, can worry about recall once they start bombing their quizzes

I think it’s fine - I suspect my (7-year old) son does that too with certain books - am just glad that he’s into the habit of reading

Any tips for hard launching partners on social media? For context, I’ve (Indian American female) been dating my white American boyfriend for 3 years and we just got engaged after two years of convincing my parents. They are very happy and excited now, but I’m scared shitless about being ostracized / judged by my extended family and Indian community in the US once I “let the cat out of the bag” on the engagement news. I want to be proud and confident about this but could use some moral support.

Working Moms/Dads: Do in-house positions exist with flex time hours? I need to be able to leave work at 4pm to pick up my son from daycare, but i can get back online at home to resume any unfinished work at 8pm. Is this realistic to convey to any companies in an interview? Pandemic aside, is face time 9-7pm really important? Or should i just try to find a job with a salary that covers a nanny salary and accept that i will never see my son on weekdays (which would be sad for both of us)? TIA!

So much baggage brought into the relationship. 2 years in and just discovered a whole lot more. Its been mentally extremely difficult and it’s changed me as a person. Just venting but feel hopeless and I know my SO is suffering. Wish there was a solution but I’m losing hope

I am generally uncomfortable when I’m around my mother-in-law’s husband.

While he is overall a decent guy, his anger issues, yelling at his wife for the slightest issue, and insulting nature makes me uncomfortable and triggers my own anger due to his blatant disrespect for just about everyone around him.

My mother-in-law says he’s worked on things, but it’s been 10 years of this and I’m not sure I want such behavior around my wife and our kids since we’re trying to conceive soon (cont).

Gift ideas for GF dad? We have been dating a year and a half, I get along with him super well. He is dealing with some medical complications so isn’t to active at the moment but loves cooking and golfing. He is one of those guys who already has everything he needs, and they are super wealthy so I feel bad getting him any clothing or accessories knowing it wouldn’t be as nice as the things he wears, although I know he doesn’t expect anything and would genuinely appreciate anything I got him

Been with my boyfriend for 4 years. His family is much more wealthier than mine (6 cars, owns 4 houses, part of 3 businesses). My family is middle class and I feel inadequate around his family because they’re so wealthy. I feel depressed because I can’t live his lifestyle and sad for our future. His family just bought a house for us and my family can’t even buy a second car. Idk how to go about this situation.

Any resume writer referrals? I’m trying to make the jump into project management. I have 13YOE managing cross-departmental projects and people, and I’d like to shed the general EA work of calendars/travel/expenses. But recruiters just see my most recent role is EA and that’s all they want to talk to me about. I’m hoping a better written resume will help target algorithms to get my resume viewed for other roles.
