Can anyone recommend a way to acquire in service credits over the summer that would not consume my whole summer? I need 45 credits for a lane change.

Unfortunately the classes now require time. I took 5 classes last summer through equity4education for the same reason. It did require hours of work but was easy to get the “A” if you did the work a d kept up with the discussions.

All the inservice classes I’ve taken recently require 15 hours for one credit. You might want to look into colleges that are allowing you to buy credit for time spent on CoVid teaching. Several in my area are doing that. You’ll be getting credit for time you’ve already put in.

Not sure what a "service credit" is, but Concordia University in Irvine CA has an online masters program in Educational Technology that was both affordable and useful. :)

Hypothetically, if BBB was delayed and brought to the Senate floor next year (let's say February 2022) and passed, and the January 1st date for ending Roth conversions is left unchanged, what would happen to Americans who performed After-Tax 401k to Roth conversions in January? Would 401k custodians have to reverse the transactions and somehow factor in gains earned in users' Roth accounts since the conversion? Could there be penalties?

Have an acquaintance who is a single mom; she purchased a used car 3 mos ago. Six wks later her 17yo wrecked it, air bags deployed, and estimates have ranged between $10-$18k in needed repairs while $21k is still owed. Acquaintance was switching insurance policies and flubbed the coverage dates and there were a few days where the vehicle was uninsured. No GAP insurance. I'm not seeing many options for her besides to continue pmts, fixing just enough to drive or voluntary repo. Thoughts?

I teach a hybrid of face to face and virtual instruction and we have 1 hour and 10 minutes for whole group instruction. These are fifth graders. How would you use this time to maximize learning? What strategies/methods would you use for engagement and mastery?

I definitely feel like student engagement is low in the virtual realm. Any suggestions would be great.

I’m teaching summer school at a high school, and the co-principals have asked me to focus on only 2 to 3 chapters worth (what they are calling “2-3 standards” in the eight days of summer semesters. However, they are also asking me to give kids the midterm and/or final at the end of each period, which covers 4-5 chapters each semester. My question is this: “Is it legal by California Ed code for the administration to ask me to teach less than each entire semester, yet test each whole semester?”

I’m preparing to teach division with decimals. Our math program doesn’t have manipulatives for the concrete representation. Suggestions how to have students understand dividing with/without decimals?

What would u do in this "hypothetical" scenario.
1. Student gets 95 percentile on standardized tests in 1st grade.
2. 2nd gr teacher, capable and flexible but a little old school.
3. Parent, from foreign country, wants us to teach 2 years ahead of where student is at in math and reading in case they have to return to other country.
4. District's old standard for acceleration is at the 97th+ percentile and other students are much more"advanced".
5. Parent wants detailed steps for teacher's plan

I finally was able to convince my principal that we need a consistent math intervention at the MS level (grades 5-8). (Right now, we are just "doing our own thing," which isn't helping students progress much.) Does anyone have any suggestions? It would be beneficial to have some sort of progress monitoring tool as part of the program, if possible. Our classes run roughly 55 minutes (which is too long for an intervention, in my humble opinion).

Thanks for any advice.
