Depends - if your career is within Audit then no you cannot. You need a CPA for promotion to manager, but if you are in consultation, then you should be able to without a cpa although they might want you to be certified in another certification like a PMP
At Kpmg and specifically in deal advisory you need it for director (SM equivalent)

I think it really depends on the firm. I’m at a mid-sized regional firm and our policy is that you must have your CPA to advance past senior. A few people have stayed seniors for years despite not getting licensed, but most end up leaving the firm after 1-2 years as senior if they aren’t licensed.
